[The girl still didn't seemed convinced. It wasn't so much Usagi but the pressure she put on herself.]
Okay... how about this? Let me tell you everything up front. Who...what I am. What I did. And if you're okay with me...I'll move in okay?
[Naminé wanted to move. She didn't want to be alone anymore. She was tired of the isolation. But she needed Usagi to know the truth before either of them regretted it.]
Mnn, if you want. But Naminé-chan, I don't want you to feel like you HAVE to tell me. I want you to tell me in your own time, at your own comfort level. And to be honest, nothing you say is going to make me take away my invitation to stay with me and Setsuna.
[Naminé felt her cheeks burn a little. Usagi's aura was so nice...she sort of envied it. She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, rubbing her legs.]
It's okay. I'd rather you know...
I don't know how much Sora has told you about where we used to live, so I'll try to keep it as simple as I can. In our universe, every person has a heart; you can think of it like a soul. Hearts are made of light and darkness, and when they move on, they return to Kingdom Hearts. Many people wanted Kingdom Hearts for their own because it's the source of everything. It started a war that almost destroyed all worlds.
Years later, creature of darkness called the Heartless appeared. Their names are literal; they are beings without hearts. And all they want is hearts, acting on instinct and attacking innocent people. But key bearers-like Sora-can free them.
It's not just Heartless that came from this though. There are other creatures called Nobodies. They are similar to heartless; no hearts but instead of instinct, they act with logic and thought.
Naminé-chan, even though you don't have a heart, you aren't heartless. You know that, don't you? You're one of the sweetest, most considerate girls I have ever met.
[She reached out and pushed some of Naminé's hair from her face.]
[The girl flinched from her touch. She couldn't even meet Usagi's eyes.]
That's not what worried me...
Yes, I'm a Nobody, but my birth was strange. I was given a very specific power: the power over memories. There were bad people who wanted to use me for this, and they kept me captured in a castle. They said they'd only let me go if I helped them with their plans. A-And I did...
You see, they wanted to control the keyblade master. So they wanted me to erase his memories and replace the person most important to him with myself. They thought if I had emotional control over him, they would have control over both of us. S-So...I helped...because I was so scared. I was so lonely. It was horrible and I knew it, but I did it anyway.
The person I hurt....that was Sora.
[She barely noticed the tears coming from her eyes and then color fading around her.]
R-Right before I showed up here...I had been working to fix the mistake I made. It took over a year, but I did it. But people were hurt along the process too...a-and I think that's my fault as well.
[The witch hid her face as her tears worsened.]
I-I'm a horrible person. I'm not even a person! I'm just a witch! And I don't deserve...your kindness. I hurt everyone around me....I deserve to be alone...
[ Kairi's smile is immediate when she greets the blond nobody, kind and lighthearted as the colors around her seems to pop with their vivid hues. Reflecting how she was feeling in this moment. ]
Do you... happen to have any spare time today? I was wondering if you'd like to spend time with me since we haven't gotten to do that since you arrived here.
[Naminé looked up from the sketch she was working on, blinking. The image of her other half appeared in her mind clearly after a minute. It was true; they really haven't had the time. Especially because of the ice attacks.
She smiled back.]
Hello Kairi. That sounds fun! Where would you like to meet?
[ Upon hearing that Naminé was up for this, it just bolstered her happiness in that this was going to actually work out. Between what happened at home and then here, there'd been no time to spend with each other and she did want to get to know the other girl a little better but also while having fun.
Plus she was restless so there was that. ]
Hmm... I was thinking perhaps that huge tree.. or clock tower in the central part of the city. How's that sound?
[Naminé nodded, closing up her sketchbook already.]
Oh yes I know where that is. I'll head out now. See you soon!
[The girl let the connection the fade as she packed up her bag. She felt a little nervous honestly, but at the same time she was kinda excited. She felt like she knew a lot about the other because of her memories, but really, she didn't know Kairi well at all. This was her chance to really to learn about her original self. Maybe it could help her learn to love herself a little more too..
Naminé was the first to arrive, and she fidgeted a little while she waited. She hoped today would go well for them both.]
[ Since Naminé said she knew where it was she was talking about, Kairi had nodded and moved to head up there herself.
While it seemed they both kind of had different things they remembered, there was still common ground between them and why she knew this was necessary. Being here in Verens allowed time to almost be normal without worrying about things like heartless, or the organization and she knew the other girl needed it more than anyone.
It didn't take long for her to arrive at the spot in question, her soft smile returning when she spotted Naminé waiting there and raised a hand to wave a bit as she approached. ]
Hey there! I hope I didn't keep you waiting too long or anything.
[ She had a plan in mind of how this would work, but half of it was kind of winging it. Fun times. ]
[Naminé looked up as she approached with a nervous smile.]
Oh n-no not at all! Thank you for inviting me out today.
[She didn't really want to outright say: "I've wanted to get to know you for so long." It was kind of embarrassing but more so she didn't want to weird her out. But it was hard not to be drawn to her original self.]
No problem. I figured maybe we could do something like a girls' day out. Just the two of us.
[ She was far from a mind reader or anything but honestly, she'd figured the best way to get to know each other would be to do something like this. Simple and easy to manage without anything being too complicated and it'd still be fun.
Especially since Kairi was positive Naminé had never gotten to do something like this to start with. So hey. Many reasons why this was needed. ]
Of course! I was thinking we would start with just walking around the market, seeing if anything catches our eye and talking between the both of us. From there, we could always find somewhere to eat and then some exploring so you could get more acquainted with the city here.
[ Hopefully that didn't sound too boring or anything. ]
[Kairi was right in her assumptions; Naminé had definitely never had anything like that. But that didn't mean she didn't daydream of it. She never thought she would have a chance like this, so she nodded with a smile on her face.]
That sounds fun to me. Let's do it!
[She walked with her other, mostly watching her feet as the went along. She still felt a little shy.]
[Whether Naminé wanted it or not, she gathered the younger girl up in a hug, gently stroking her back and petting her hair as she rocked her back and forth. She gently hummed like she did for Chibiusa and Sora whenever things got particularly bad, and she spread out her light. She used her crystal to wrap them up in warmth and love and care.]
No, you aren't a horrible person. You were a scared little girl who feared how badly she would be hurt. And more still, you fixed everything you did because you knew it was wrong.
You are so brave, Naminé-chan, you might be one of the bravest girls I know. I'm not going to let you be alone, little one. I'm not going to let you be alone so long as I'm alive.
[Naminé is shocked at Usagi's response. She sits frozen in her arms while she tries to process the new information. When it settles, her tears really start to flow. This girl accepted her. She knew the whole truth now, but Usagi totally accepted it.
A small sob escapes her and she curls up into a ball in the other's arms. Was this really okay? She doesn't think Usagi would lie to her. There is no gain to be had from it. This girl was just an honest to god kind, caring person. Naminé still doesn't feel like she deserves this treatment, but she also won't disregard the others feelings. Besides....she's grateful.]
[She waited for Naminé to let it all out, never letting go, never stopping her gentle rocking, able to hold this position for hours, if she needed. Naminé needed her and Usagi was going to be there where clearly so few had been whether because they couldn't or chose not to be. But Usagi could and would for the little blonde. She would do everything she could to help her grow and become stronger.
But until the little blonde felt like she could stand on her own, Usagi would be there to support her. Starting with something as simple as a hug while she cried.
She pulled out her handkerchief and offered it to Naminé, gently pushing some of Naminé's hair from her face. She merely smiled.]
You don't have to thank me, Naminé-chan, I just want you to feel safe and welcomed.
[ There was absolutely no second thoughts in the nod she gave Naminé in response, feeling quite elated that the other girl was wanting to do this. She wished she could have showed Naminé what Destiny Islands was really like, but for now just having a day in which they could just spend time with one another would definitely suffice.
She glanced sidelong as they walked, noting the shyness but not going to bring it up or anything just yet. ]
I believe it's been about half a year now, I think. I might be wrong.
[ Kairi couldn't help the small laugh that followed her words, having come to realize that very fact even as she said it aloud. ]
Time really does fly around here. There's usually something always going on so it does make it interesting, and yet it's really peaceful as well.
Really? That seems so long to me. But I can understand how you feel, I think. It's nice that you're enjoying it.
[The Nobody was enjoying herself too. She had met so many people so far, and they genuinely cared for her. Naminé had never thought that would be possible. But here she is....shopping with her original self. It's like a dream.]
[Naminé takes the handkerchief with a grateful nod and wipes her eyes. She feels exhausted after all that crying but also relieved. One to have the truth out, but also...she really needed a good cry.]
Still I....okay.
[She takes a deep breath in and out, folding the handkerchief.]
Usagi if you're really okay with all that then...I don't have a reason to say no to your offer. Honestly, I really am tired of being alone. I'd rather be with you.
I'd rather you be with me too. Come on, let's go find you a room to call your own. [She smiled as she gently set Naminé down and held out her hand for the little blonde to take.]
Yeah... it kinda does seem a little long now that you mention it. I do hope you come to enjoy it as much as I have.
[ Which is something she completely means, speaking from the heart. She then cast her gaze upward to a spot just ahead of the two of them and upon spotting something, her expression lit up. ]
Oh, there it is!
[ She points toward the market itself and the one stall closest to them that has a bunch of nice looking dresses on display. ]
I think I will honestly. So far I have anyway. I feel very free here, and what's something I've wanted for so long. It's good to be here.
[Naminé isn't sure how aware Kairi is of her former situation, but if she wasn't, the topic is sure to come up. She wants to be honest with the other after all. When Kairi points out the stall, she nods and follows her there. Naminé awes at the dress.]
